Tony Willis Maker Projects

- Mini Caravan Trailer — Designed and built a lightweight micro‑caravan from a bare trailer frame. Integrated electrical systems, insulation, structural reinforcement, and modular interior. Treated as a full engineering project: requirements, constraints, prototyping, testing, iteration.

Electric Guitar Build — Hand‑built a solid‑body electric guitar from raw timber. Precision shaping, fretwork, electronics, finishing, and setup. A blend of craftsmanship and technical problem‑solving.

Forge & Metalwork — Built a home forge and used it to create historically inspired Viking tools and hardware. Combines metallurgy, heat control, and traditional fabrication techniques.

Workshop Fabrication — Ongoing projects using lathe, drill/mill, welding gear, grinders, and hand tools to design and build custom components and mechanisms.

1902 James & Browne Gear Selector Cam (Reverse Engineering) — Recreated the bronze gear selector cam for “Boanerges,” Imperial College’s 1902 James & Browne motor car. The original part was heavily worn, so I measured and analysed the gearbox to reconstruct the missing geometry, then 3D‑modelled and machined a new cam from bronze on a 4‑axis Haas CNC mill.
